The Cartier Regional Water Cooperative (CRWC) provides safe, reliable drinking water to eight rural municipalities serving a regional population of approximately 15,000 people. Operating two advanced water treatment facilities and an extensive regional distribution network, CRWC is recognized for its commitment to operational excellence, innovation, and investment in state-of-the-art infrastructure.
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Water Treatment & Distribution Operator to join our operations team. This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced ultrafiltration (UF), reverse osmosis (RO), and SCADA systems while helping ensure the delivery of high-quality drinking water to our communities.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Facility Supervisor and Director of Operations, the successful candidate will assist in the operation, monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of CRWC’s water treatment and distribution systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the operation and maintenance of a modern Class IV ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis water treatment facility.
- Operate and maintain a Class II regional water distribution system, including numerous remote pumping and storage facilities.
- Perform daily water quality testing and process monitoring to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Canadian drinking water quality guidelines.
- Monitor and control system operations using SCADA and other computerized control systems.
- Collect, enter, analyze, and maintain operational and regulatory records.
- Participate in preventative maintenance activities and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and process equipment.
- Respond to operational issues, alarms, and emergency situations as required.
- Work independently and collaboratively as part of a professional operations team.
- Support CRWC’s commitment to safe, reliable, and efficient water service delivery.
Qualifications
Required
- Grade 12 diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel regularly between facilities.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights and in confined spaces.
Preferred
- Water Treatment and/or Water Distribution certification.
- Experience in municipal water treatment or distribution operations.
- Experience operating ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, or membrane treatment systems.
- Knowledge of SCADA systems and automated process controls.
- Experience with chemical handling and process chemical systems.
- Education in environmental science, water technology, mechanics, plumbing, instrumentation, or a related field.

Work Schedule
The successful candidate will participate in the current operations schedule, including:
- Weekend on-call rotation.
- After-hours alarm response requirements following the probationary period.
- Occasional emergency call-outs as required.
