About the Role:
Pembina Valley Water Coop (PVWC) is committed to delivering safe, reliable drinking water to the communities we serve. We operate and maintain a comprehensive Water Treatment and Distribution system that includes multiple Booster stations, a Reservoir, and extensive pipeline infrastructure.

We are currently seeking a motivated and safety-focused Distribution Operator to join our team

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete regulatory and compliance related activites, including weekly bacteriological samples, monitoring of system pressure(s) and monitor Chlorine residuals
  • Participate in an On-call rotation, responding to alarms/emergencies, including after hours
  • Maintain mechanical, electrical, building components of company assets and infrastructure
  • Review, file and complete operational reports internally and to external stakeholders
  • Use existing SCADA platform to review and analyze operational data and trends
  • Promote high standards of housekeeping across facilities, company vehicles, and work areas
  • Communicate service interruptions or water quality issues promptly to management
  • Maintain accurate logs, records and files for all operational data and company assets
  • Maintain an accurate and accessible filing system for regulatory and public requirements
  • Coordinate work activities with internal groups, contractors and suppliers
  • Collaborate with various utilities to locate water lines through Click Before You Dig
  • Stay current with evolving regulations, technologies, and industry best practices

 

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 diploma required
  • Education and/or experience in Water Treament or Distribution (Provincial certification is considered an asset)
  • Trade ticket or equivalent experience considered an asset
  • Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s Licence

 

Education and Experience:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, email, data entry systems)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic work environment
  • Positive and proactive safety attitude

 

Unique Position Requirements:

  • This role involves a combination of office work and daily field operations. The position requires regular driving throughout the Distribution system to collect samples and inspect facilities. Fieldwork is performed in varying weather conditions and may involve responding to emergency situations outside of regular working hours.
  • The Distribution Operator is responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, and maintenance of PVWC’s water Distribution system and its interaction with the Water Treatment operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining water quality standards, and supporting the ongoing development of the company’s Asset Management program.
  • The successful candidate will be knowledgeable in Water Treatment and Distribution systems and demonstrate strong communication, technical, and organizational skills.
