Water Treatment and Wastewater Operator

Have you ever thought about where your water comes from or where your water goes when you flush the toilet? Have you ever wondered who is responsible for ensuring you have immediate access to clean drinking water?

These behind-the-scenes people play a critical role in ensuring the health of the public and the environment. Water and wastewater professionals are responsible for ensuring systems are running smoothly, water is treated properly and transported efficiently.

The City of Portage la Prairie has immediate openings for permanent full-time (40 hours per week) Water and Wastewater Operators. The successful applicant will have a valid MB class 5 driver's license, a grade 12 education or GED and a minimum of 2 years post-secondary education in the Sciences, Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Studies or related fields.  The ideal candidate will have excellent mechanical aptitude and skills and a commitment to continued education to obtain class 4 certification.

The City of Portage la Prairie offers an extensive benefits package with a starting hourly rate of $27.72 to $37.76 per hour dependent upon qualifications, certification and experience.
